I've been doing free mini-coaching calls over the past week and something has been coming up a lot recently. A few people mentioned that they felt stuck in a cycle. It was frustrating, exhausting and starting to eat away at their self-esteem.
While the details were different for each person, but there was an overarching theme that I noticed- and that was the reason why they kept getting stuck.
So, what’s the #1 reason why I see people getting stuck? It’s not because they need a bigger dream, new strategy, better skills or even more resources.
The top thing that holds people back in life is lack of follow-through.
Does this sound familiar? You have a brilliant idea → you get excited → make a detailed plan → and start working on the first few steps. But 2 or 3 days go by and before you know it, your plan gets pushed back to the following week (… then the following month) and suddenly that brilliant idea becomes a thing of the past.
Why Does This Keep Happening?
Because follow-through is hard. Enthusiasm fades quickly and motivation is that unreliable and flakey friend that comes and goes as it pleases.
But this is a problem because follow-through is one of those life skills that determine how successful you’ll be and how far you’ll make it.
What makes success is not your genius idea, but the execution and follow-through around it.
Those who are blessed with the most talent don't necessarily outperform everyone else.
It's the people who follow through who excel.

So you’ve got a few ideas, plans, and goals that you’ve been struggling to follow through on. What’s a girl to do now? Glad you asked.
The key to following through is to have a reliable and effective accountability system in place. And one of the best ways to do this to get an accountability partner.
“Accountability is the glue that ties commitment to the result”
- Bob Proctor
Why Accountability Matters
Accountability increases follow-through and decreases procrastination.
Firm deadlines combined with a support system to ensure that you are staying on track = increased likelihood of not only achieving your goal but doing so faster.
Accountability drives you to be your best.
We do better work when we know we’re being watched and know that our results will be shared with others. With an accountability system in place, you’ll put in more effort, and in return, get better results.
Accountability gives you that extra push to do what you said you would do when your enthusiasm fades and your motivation is nowhere to be found.
It’s a lot harder to break promises to other people than it is to break promises to ourselves. Knowing that someone is holding you to your plans gives you that little kick in the butt needed to get going when that urge to procrastinate and binge-watch the Office gets real.
I mentioned earlier that an accountability partner is one of the best ways to stay on track, follow-through and create that next level success that you are capable of. But how do you find one? Will sharing your goals/checking in with a friend do?
The short answer… no.
Going pro by hiring a coach is the best option.
And here’s why.
While a friend and a coach both care, have your best interest at hand and want to see you win there is one big difference that sets them apart.
Your friends are busy with their own lives, jobs and dreams.
As much as they love you, most people simply don’t have the capacity to remember the details of your plan well enough to hold you accountable.
On the other hand, the # 1 mission of a coach is to see you succeed. It is literally our job and we have spent years learning the tools, strategies and techniques to help you stick to your plans and ultimately achieve your goals.
So where do you find a coach? If you’re interested in getting this level of support, then you should explore coaching with me.
