5 Immediately Actionable Ways to Level Up Your Life

This post is a practical personal development guide that will show you

5 things that you can immediately start doing to level up your success and infuse your life with happiness.

Step 1 | Organize and Declutter Your Space

Your physical surroundings have more to do with your mental wellness than you realize.

Your personal space impacts your mood, your motivation and can help to reduce stress.

I recommend starting with this step because it’s relatively easy to do and you’ll immediately feel the effects- so it’s a great way to get some momentum going. In addition to that, starting with a clutter-free and organized space will set the tone for the rest of the things you do.

Here are some ways that a clear, clean, and organized space personally improves my life:

  • It helps me to be more mindful and present throughout the day … it’s a lot easier to be fully present in a beautiful space than it is in a messy one

  • I feel lighter and more put together … and as a result, I feel better about myself, become more productive, and enjoy what I do more.

  • I get out of bed easier and with more enthusiasm … something about not having to worry about tripping on anything or maneuvering through the clutter on the floor to start my day makes my mornings oh so bright.

Step 2 | Jumpstart Your Health

The second step is about picking one thing that you can commit to doing every day to jumpstart a healthy lifestyle change in your life.

Here’s why.

Having a healthy lifestyle will increase your physical and mental energy and the amount of energy that you have directly influences every aspect of your life.

If you are always tired and have low energy it becomes harder to enjoy the little things that make life worthwhile and more difficult to accomplish everything (from the mundane tasks such as doing laundry, to the big-ticket things that directly impact your personal and professional success).

So what is one health habit that you can commit to right now?

Once you’ve picked a goal, schedule it into your planner and set an alarm to remind you of it daily.

Step 3 | Start a Passion Project

This step is all about having fun and infusing your life with everyday moments of happiness.

When people hear the words “passion project” they tend to freak out and overcomplicate things. If that’s you, then stop worrying. I’m not sending you on a soul searching journey to find your life’s passion and discover your purpose. By passion project, I simply mean activity that lights you up and that you genuinely enjoy doing.

Why does this matter?

Because I see far too many people get sucked into a whirlwind of deadlines, daily routines and responsibilities at the expense of their happiness. And this is a problem because your happiness matters.

I also often hear clients say that they simply don't have the time or energy to dedicate to this.

And to that, I typically respond by straight-up letting them know that this is not acceptable.

It doesn't matter how busy you are. You can afford to dedicate ten minutes of the day to doing something that you enjoy.

Life is more than a to-do list.

So for the third step, pick a small activity that you enjoy and make a promise to yourself to dedicate at least 10 minutes each day to do it. Pen it into your planner and schedule daily alarms if you have to... just make sure that you get around to it because you absolutely deserve it.

Step 4 | Develop This Success Habit

“If you're not growing, you're dying” and we don’t want that, so this step is dedicated to activating your personal growth.

In particular step 4 is about developing the success habit of reading.

If you aren't big on reading, I recommend starting off with a short book or listening to an audiobook (Audible is a great option for this).

Two other options are to listen to a podcast daily or take a course on something you’re interested in.

Step 5 | Make a Plan For Your Future

“Most people spend more time planning for a two-week vacation than they do planning their futures”.

This quote is both tragic and true.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not calling anyone out here because before I discovered life coaching, this quote also applied to me.

So the final step is about correcting this by defining what you want out of life and making a plan for your future.

A great place to start is to ask yourself:

  1. What needs to happen for my life to be well-lived and one with few regrets?

  2. Exactly what do I want to accomplish within the next year?
